The Rostrevor Residence brief stipulated two sizable homes for two active, growing and professional families on a 1000 square metre property.
The clients, whilst both preferring similar design outcomes, wished to incorporate their own personal touches to the dual project.
Elegant, classic facade lines were required to blend with the character of the existing well-established streetscape, while the `Side-by-Side` (or duplex) style layout with lower basement car parking facilities addressed the constraints of the rectangular suburban site.
A considerable land slope and an east-west orientation of the land demanded a separate and individual approach to the built forms and sustainability requirements of the overall project. There was a need to ensure the amenity and solar efficiency of the southern dwelling was not unduly impacted by its northern sister. This was achieved through a combination of split-level floors, interesting northern orientated cathedral ceilings and large screened glazing to the open northern living areas.
The quality craftsmanship of this project ensures that the project will remain an attractive contribution to the streetscape for many years to come.
